Investigating the thermal effect of channel heatsink using MWCNTs nanofluids

    Get PDF
The utilisation of Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanofluids is considered to be a highly efficient approach in the field of thermal engineering, specifically for the purpose of cooling electronic processors. The usage of a microchannel along with an electronic chip for liquid cooling of electronics presents a compelling substitute to the conventional bulky aluminium heat sinks. A minichannel heat sink employing MWCNTs nanofluid as a coolant is further enhanced in thermal and hydraulic performance. In order to analyze the performance of the minichannel heat sinks, a conjugate heat transfer model has been solved using the commercial software ANSYS-CFD. Theoretically, it showed that the presence of MWCNTs reduced thermal resistance and increased the thermal conductivity of liquid cooling system. The results reveal a maximum enhancement of in average heat transfer coefficient ( h ) for minichannel heat sink using MWCNTs as a coolant at volume 40%, 46%, and 52% concentrations of 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75%. The performance evaluation shows that the overall performance of the minichannel heat sink using MWCNTs cooled minichannel heat sink at 0.75% volume concentration is roughly enhanced more as compared to water

Quantum superposition of multiple clones and the novel cloning machine

we envisage a novel quantum cloning machine, which takes an input state and produces an output state whose success branch can exist in a linear superposition of multiple copies of the input state and the failure branch exist in a superposition of composite state independent of the input state. We prove that unknown non-orthogonal states chosen from a set S\cal S can evolve into a linear superposition of multiple clones by a unitary process if and only if the states are linearly independent. We derive a bound on the success probability of the novel cloning machine. We argue that the deterministic and probabilistic clonings are special cases of our novel cloning machine.Comment: Two column, 5 pages, Latex, some additions, minor changes. Phys. Rev. Lett. Quantum cobwebs: Universal entangling of quantum states

Entangling an unknown qubit with one type of reference state is generally impossible. However, entangling an unknown qubit with two types of reference states is possible. To achieve this, we introduce a new class of states called zero sum amplitude (ZSA) multipartite, pure entangled states for qubits and study their salient features. Using shared-ZSA state, local operation and classical communication we give a protocol for creating multipartite entangled states of an unknown quantum state with two types of reference states at remote places. This provides a way of encoding an unknown pure qubit state into a multiqubit entangled state. We quantify the amount of classical and quantum resources required to create universal entangled states. This is possibly a strongest form of quantum bit hiding with multiparties.Comment: Invited talk in II Winter Institute on FQTQO: Quantum Information Processing, held at S. N. "Assisted cloning'' and "orthogonal-complementing" of an unknown state

    Get PDF
We propose a protocol where one can exploit dual quantum and classical channels to achieve perfect ``cloning'' and ``orthogonal-complementing'' of an unknown state with a minimal assistance from a state preparer (without revealing what the input state is). The first stage of the protocol requires usual teleportation and in the second stage, the preparer disentangles the left-over entangled states by a single particle measurement process and communicates a number of classical bits (1-cbit per copy) to different parties so that perfect copies and complement copies are produced. We discuss our protocol for producing two copies and three copies (and complement copies) using two and four particle entangled state and suggest how to generalise this for N copies and complement copies using multiparticle entangled state.Comment: 7 pages, Latex, no figures, submitted to Phys. Wave forecasting and monitoring during very severe cyclone Phailin in the Bay of Bengal

    Get PDF
Wave fields, both measured and forecast during the very severe cyclone Phailin, are discussed in this communication. Waves having maximum height of 13.54 m were recorded at Gopalpur, the landfall point of the cyclone. The forecast and observed significant wave heights matched well at Gopalpur with correlation coefficient of 0.98, RMS error of 0.35 m and scatter index of 14%. Forecasts were also validated in the open ocean and found to be reliable (scatter index < 15%). The study also revealed the presence of Southern Ocean swells with a peak period of 20-22 sec hitting Gopalpur coast along with the cyclone-generated waves

The gastrointestinal toxicity associated with aceclofenac can be reduced by condensing its carboxylic acid group with methyl esters of amino acids like histidine and alanine to give amide linkage by the Schotten-Baumann method. Physicochemical characterization of the conjugates was carried out by various analytical and spectral methods. The synthesized conjugates were also subjected to in vitro hydrolysis in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) at pH 1.2, simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) at pH 7.4 and SIF + 80 % human plasma at pH 7.4. The release of free aceclofenac from histidine and alanine conjugated aceclofenac showed negligible hydrolysis in SGF compared to SIF. This indicated that the conjugates do not break in stomach, but release aceclofenac in SIF. Both synthesized conjugates showed excellent pharmacological response and encouraging hydrolysis rate in SIF and SIF + 80 % human plasma. Marked reduction of the ulcer index and comparable increase in analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities were obtained in both cases compared to aceclofenac alone. These findings suggest that the conjugates are better in action compared to the parent drug and have fewer gastrointestinal side-effects. Oba konjugata daju izvrstan farmakološki odgovor i zadovoljavajući stupanj hidrolize u SIF-u i smjesi SIF-a i humane plazme. Oba konjugata pokazala su značajno smanjenu ulcerogenost i pojačano analgetsko i protuupalno djelovanje u odnosu na aceklofenak. Rezultati ukazuju na prednost konjugata u odnosu na samu ljekovitu tvar

Solitary coherent structures in viscoelastic shear flow: computation and mechanism

Starting from stationary bifurcations in Couette-Dean flow, we compute nontrivial stationary solutions in inertialess viscoelastic circular Couette flow. These solutions are strongly localized vortex pairs, exist at arbitrarily large wavelengths, and show hysteresis in the Weissenberg number, similar to experimentally observed ``diwhirl'' patterns. Based on the computed velocity and stress fields, we elucidate a heuristic, fully nonlinear mechanism for these flows. We propose that these localized, fully nonlinear structures comprise fundamental building blocks for complex spatiotemporal dynamics in the flow of elastic liquids.Comment: 5 pages text and 4 figures.
